I’m on a roll y’all! It’s time to celebrate another obscure holiday…..National Get Funky Day. Getting funky is easy for some, and challenging for others. So today, I’m suggesting 4 Ways to Celebrate National Get Funky Day!
Let’s Celebrate National Get Funky Day!
One of my favorite ways to get funky and Celebrate National Get Funky Day is with my clothes! For years I have been a vintage clothing collector! I have numerous dresses, jewelry, and purses. I also have a slight addition to collecting vintage coats, which I discussed in this post. Wherever I travel, I always make time to stop by as least a few vintage clothing stores, and one of my favorite spots in Dallas is Dolly Python, which I wrote about in this post. I could spend HOURS in this store. Love it! For those of you who also love funky Vintage Clothes, do you know about the Manhattan Vintage Clothing Show? THIS is so fun it’s UNREAL! I think we should plan a trip for 2019….that way we are fully prepared and outfitted to Celebrate National Get Funky Day! No, seriously….we should!!!!

Another way to Celebrate National Get Funky Day is by bringing a little funk into your home! One of the greatest sources of funk is my wonderful friend and outsider art dealer Joshua Lowenfels. I profiled him in this post. Y’all should follow him on Instagram too @joshualowenfels. He finds the most FUNKY things ever!!!!

And, I love to find the truly funky while traveling, and drag it home no matter how big or small. Ask TSA….they probably roll their eyes at me every time I get to the airport. This post showcases some of my favorite funky finds!

A little closer to home, I love to hunt for the funk at Lula B’s! I highlighted this awesome shop in this post, and am always down for a field-trip there….shout out if you want to go with me!!!! There’s also a lot of VERY cool and funky home decor, art and antiques at Griffin Trading Company, which I profiled here. Be sure and check them out….mid-century modern is always a great way to Celebrate National Get Funky Day!

And, of course, travel is a GREAT way to Celebrate National Get Funky Day. In this post, we followed a funky family road trip across the United States, and in this post I shared with you some of the funniest, and funkiest signs I have come across while traveling!

I’m in Oklahoma City a lot these days visiting my daughter, and the 21c Hotel is truly super fun and funky, and I love staying there! Check out this post!

Finally, my number 1 way to Celebrate National Get Funky Day is with my own personal husband. Will is the epitome of all things funky….from his clothes, to his interests in art, music, history and film. He’s a one-man-band of all things Funky! In fact, we are working on some VERY fun collaborative projects that I think y’all are going to LOVE….so stay tuned for that!
And, in the mean time….let ME know how you intend to Celebrate National Get Funky Day!
